How is Christmas coming, everyone?
I suppose everyone is busy with all the shopping and baking and such but I wanted to add a new blog entry. Here's a little question entry and hopefully we can get some good feedback. Here it is...
What is your favorite Campbell family holiday tradition? Reply in the comments or as a post.

Here is mine...
I have great memories of the puzzles and games and the Chex mix. I am sure my brain has warped the whole idea a bit, but I just remember having a puzzle up on a table and always having Chex mix around. And cheese balls. When we were in Utah, I remember the holiday season that Grandma and I got food poisoning from K-Mart and we ended up in bed for a few days between Christmas and New Years. That year the 33rd ward was having a late night New Years party and I did NOT want to miss out. I remember taking some Ibuprofen and going anyway, and having a great time. That seemed to be one of my favorite New Years with an excitement that has been hard to match over the years.
I hate to be away for the holidays but I love finding ways to make them as enjoyable with as many traditions that I can maintain. I hope you all are finding all the good fun that the holidays are supposed to bring. I love you all.

Thank you Josh!
My favorite tradition is by far the CHRISTMAS FORT. Not just any fort, but a fort with rooms.... I remember being in there with only the light from the Christmas lights. I loved getting up super early to go out and get our stockings, then go back to the fort and show everyone what we got. I hope my kids get the same feeling at Christmas that I felt then.
I think the fort was my favorite Campbell tradition too, even though I didn't participate in it. I just remember how much fun everyone had building the fort and every year it was a little different.
Yes yes. I love the fort too. It's funny how sharing a VERY small space with so many people was such a fun and exciting idea. he he I have no idea how we managed to get ANY sleep. But I still have raised the idea to a few of my friends here that we should build a fort on Christmas Eve!
Definately the fort for me! I was so glad it was continued when I left home...my kiddos do it now (although McKenzi thinks she's outgrowing it)...I don't think I ever did. If I could get Brian to build a fort I would ;)
Also, I loved Christmas break...not having to be in school (even during college days) and just being home together. Laying on the green carpet in the kitchen, listening to Christmas music and talking while Mom cooked dinner...good times!!
Oh...and one more...dragging the Christmas tree out from under the stairs and putting up all the decorations.
Mom...I can't believe you let us decorate however we wanted...my kids drive me nutty when they decorate the tree. Thanks!
Ha ha!!! I love it Heather!!! Wendy (Gledhill) Richards just wrote about that in her blog as well- the fact that she goes a little batty when the kids go crazy on the tree. Funny stuff. AND I am just NOW remembering the closet under the stairs. I totally forgot that! And so many other memories came flooding back with that. I feel like my memories of the WVC house are what it looked liked just before we moved. I wish we had more indoor pictures...
I wanted to add again that I also loved the waking Mom and Dad up thing as well. All of us kids going in and waking them up with song- as if it would soften the blow- ha ha!!! Good times!
I love reading everyone's comments! The fort, the singing, I miss those days! Remember the old desk that had the black top that slid onto a clear base. I remember that desk always being my "room" in the fort. Okay, so maybe I'm going crazy, but do you all remember the time Mom and Dad had us dress up and meet at the dinner table? They said that we were having someone special coming for dinner and we had to put our church clothes on. They had candles lit and told the christmas story at the dinner table? Is this a Lacey confabulation? I also liked the red Christmas candle with the white dots that we read scriptures by. And each day read until the candle burned down to the next dot. Josh - I also loved a couple of years ago, when it was just you and me and we had to sneak out the window of Jesse's room and get mom and dad's stocking stuffers because they were in the living room doing our stockings?? That was hilarious!! I miss Campbell Christmases! :)
