T’was the night before Christmas and all through the house
Only Zoe was stirring, think she’s chasing a mouse,
Much quieter now, all the children have flown,
All over the world, how quickly they’ve grown,
No staying up late, no assembly required,
Just off to bed early, getting old’s made us tired,
No last minute shopping, no trips to the mall,
No counting of gifts being equal to all,
No cookies or milk left out in plain sight,
No nose prints in sugar bowls left out all night.
No stockings stuffed carefully ‘or the chimney with care
Even under the tree looks a little bit bare,
No blanket castles in one room any more
No waiting till 7 for knocks on the door
What a wonderful season, fun memories it brings
Of bicycles, laughter and meaningful things,
But out with the old and in with the new
Traditions and memories, some happy some blue,
Just keep what you like, and chuck all the rest
With family it’s natural and usually the best

We did go to the Mall but it was much less stressful this year. haha
Thanks everyone for the Ancestry.com gift. We have the best kids in the world!!!
I LOVED it Dad! Thanks! This will be one of the best memories yet. Love you!
Ugh! I just realized that my comment from Christmas Eve didn't post.
Your poem made me laugh and cry at the same time Dad!(I'm probably a little sensitive right now since McKenzi is just a few months from graduation) You should know though, that the tradition of moving all the mattresses into one room is alive and well in the Saddler household! They've even extended it through Christmas break which assures that no one sleeps more than a few hours a night but many movies are watched and lots of memories are being made! :0)
